New York City Boroughs

Some people think that Manhattan and New York was one of the same, but they are not. This is one of the five boroughs that constitute New York City! The others are the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island! Everyone has different characteristics and different things to do and see! Manhattan is the center of culture and commerce, but it is also full of activity with a list of things to see and do. There are at least 13 districts in Chinatown in Manhattan's Upper West Side. There are hundreds of restaurants, on and off Broadway theater, shopping and lots of other things to discover! Manhattan is also the most densely populated of all five boroughs and is home to most of the skyscrapers in the city. The Bronx is the northernmost point in town is the only one connected to the North American continent (Manhattan and Staten Island are islands, and the Queens and Brooklyn are part of Long Island). There are also several museums and a botanical garden and zoo. Queens, otherwise known as the Long Island City, the East River from Midtown Manhattan, has become an important cultural destination. Long Island City is the first stop in Manhattan for the street 59 (Queens Borough) Bridge. Queens is geographically the largest district and is also the most ethnically mixed in the U.S.. This neighborhood is mainly residential and middle class. Queens hosts the U.S. Open Tennis Tournament each year and the home of Shea Stadium (NY Mets). You will find museums, zoos and botanical gardens here. The two largest airports are located in this region, LaGuardia and John F. Kennedy International. The last of the five boroughs and the Staten Island, which is the most suburban in nature. You can take the ferry to Staten Island, from the tip of Manhattan on the edge of Staten Island and cruises through New York Harbor in front of the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island and Governors Island.
